Deli pals break into the big time with posh nibbles
TWO food lovers who run a deli with a difference in Thorpe are putting their business on the foodie taste map with high-profile party catering in London.
Lucy Cutler and Frankie Edwards, who were schoolfriends in the village, set up Love to Eat 18 months ago.
For the last few weeks they have been dishing up homemade nibbles and bite-sized canapes in London at a series of posh parties.
They rubbed shoulders with shopping guru Mary Portas at a press launch where her Yellow door PR company showcased big-name clients including Clarkes, Matalan, Republic and her new own label range.
And the girls returned to the capital to cater for a Matalan press day, serving up treats for 4,000 VIP guests at the giant new Westfield shopping centre.
“They have certainly been big high profile jobs for us,” said Lucy.
The girls went into catering in London and Spain after leaving school before returning to Thorpe where they fulfilled a dream by opening their own shop, selling cakes, coffee, sandwiches and homemade takeaway food.
“We have a tiny little shop in the High Street and we have built up a really good customer base,” said Lucy.
“We love to cook so we just try to make people’s lives easier.”
